Tana (Sprague) Helean is an experience designer, strategist, and creative director with 16 years experience developing influential public programs at the intersection of art, design, technology, and culture. She works with artists and organizations to explore, define, and optimize platforms for creative expression, connection, and mutual understanding.
She completed formal education in creative technology, earning a BA in Interdisciplinary Computing & the Arts from University of California San Diego, and an MFA in Electronic Media from Mills College. Her research and development in real-time interactive technologies and data visualization & sonification garnered two fellowship awards from the Qualcomm Institute (Calit2).
Tana’s work spans live shows, permanent installations, museum exhibitions, and has shaped an array of innovative experiential platforms – including internationally renowned immersive art & technology organizations Obscura Digital, Recombinant Media Labs, and Gray Area Foundation.
She is currently serving as the Director of Experience Design at MSG Sphere Studios, developing Madison Square Garden’s groundbreaking new immersive venue: Sphere.
